Palestinians commemorate the 69th anniversary of Catastrophe Day in Gaza.
Palestinians hold National flag in a rally to commemorate the 69th anniversary of the "Nakba" in Gaza City, on May 15, 2017. "Nakba" means in Arabic "catastrophe" in reference to the birth of the state of Israel 69-years-ago in British-mandate Palestine, which led to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who either fled or were driven out of their homes during the 1948 war over Israel's creation. The key symbolises the homes left by Palestinians in 1948, more than 760,000 Palestinians, estimated today to number 5 million with their descendants, were pushed into exile or driven out of their homes..
