Press tour of the TWA Hotel at JFK Airport in New York
Sights of the old TWA Terminal are viewed by members of the press at a press tour of the soon to be opened TWA Hotel at JFK Airport on May 22, 2017 in New York City. The TWA Hotel at JFK International Airport will preserve the iconic Eero Saarinen terminal, restoring the landmark to its Jet Age splendor for generations to enjoy. Designed to defer to the landmark, the new hotel structures will be set back from the terminal. The complete rehabilitation of the national landmark to its 1962 glory includes restoring iconic interiors by Charles Eames, Raymond Loewy, and Warren Platner. Plans also include an innovative museum showcasing New York as the birthplace of the Jet Age, the storied history of Trans World Airlines and the Midcentury Modern design movement. It is expected to be completed in 2018. Photo by John Angelillo/UPI
