NASA's Space Shuttle "Atlantis" launches from the Kennedy Space Center
NASA's space shuttle "Atlantis" launches at 11:26 AM from Complex 39A at the Kennedy Space Center, Florida on July 8, 2011. Launching with a crew of four to the International Space Station, the mission, STS 135, is NASA's final mission in the shuttle's 30 year history. Now that the Station's construction is complete, Atlantis will deliver supplies and equipment to be utilized at the complex during the post shuttle era. From this point on, the Station will be supplied by manned and unmanned Russian Soyuz rockets. SpaceX is also planning to support the Station once its technology has been approved by NASA.
