Hurricane Sandy brings devastation to the Rockaway Peninsular in New York

Raymond Manning shovels a channel through the sand in order to divert the flood waters left by Hurricane Sandy which inundated the Rockaway Peninsular in the borough of Queens on October 30, 2012 in New York City. The super storm which devastated parts of the eastern seaboard has prompted officials to shut down all public transportation systems and schools and order the evacuation of thousands who live in coastal areas.
