A high-speed train rolls through central Beijing as it heads to one of the capital's main train stations on August 4, 2011. At least 40 people were killed in a high-speed train crash after signalling equipment failed. Even before the crash there were concerns corrupt authorities had compromised safety in the drive to develop the high-speed rail system, already the biggest in the world. UPI/Stephen Shaver
