RESERVOIR DEVELOPES BREECH WASHING AWAY HOMES AND CARS
The Ameren Energy hrdroelectric plant reservoir in Lesterville, Mo in this undated photo on December 14, 2005, developed a breech today dumping a billion gallons of water, washing away homes and cars. Water in the fifty-acre upper reservoir of the plant emptied in 12 minutes raising the level of the Black River in Southeastern Missouri, about 120 miles from St. Louis. Three children were critically injured and transfered to St. Louis area hospitals. There was no rain in the area overnight but officials detected a 1.9 tremor about 5 A.M.(UPI Photo/bg/Handout)
