Andrei Gromyko and Pres. Nixon meet at the Whtie House

Pres. Nixon meets on October 2, 1972 at the White House, with on his left Russian Ambassador Anatoly Debrynin and Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko; and on his right Secretary of State William Rogers and National Security Advisor Henry Kissinger (taking notes). The next day a ceremony will be held at the Executive Mansion, whereby Nixon and Gromyko will formally sign and exchange two documents which will bring into full effect the strategic arms limitation agreements between the two superpowers.
