Steel Tariffs
To avoid a possible trade war, President George W. Bush lifted tariffs on foreign steel on December 4, 2003. Stevedores unload rolls of coiled steel from the Antilles V at the Poland Street Wharf in New Orleans on December 3, 2003. Steel usually accounts for 40 percent of the general cargo imports to the Port, however since steel tariffs were enacted by President Bush that number has drop to nearly 25 percent. (UPI Photo/A.J.
