Crew members aboard the amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21) man the rails and present honors while passing Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty and The World Trade Center and the National September 11 Memorial and Museum as the ship arrives in Manhattan on September 8, 2011. Aboard are family members of victims and first responders from 9/11, along with the crew and Marines assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment. New York was built with 7.5 tons of steel recovered from Ground Zero. On Sept. 11, New York will transit from its anchorage in the Hudson River to a location within sight of the World Trade Center.
