Mitt Romney takes second place in the South Carolina primary (12 images)

After being considered the heavy favorite to win the Republican primary in South Carolina, Mitt Romney has taken second place to Newt Gingrich with 26 percent of the vote with 31 percent of the precincts reporting in.
