Continuing a Fourth of July tradition, contestants battled to see who could eat the most during hamburger and hot dog eating competitions held in Washington, D.C. and Brooklyn, N.Y., on July 3 and 4.

Molly Schuyler ate 21 hamburgers in 10 minutes during Z-Burger's eighth annual Independence Burger Eating Championship in Washington on July 3, securing her championship title for the third year in a row.

Professional competitive eater Joey Chestnut took home his 10th win during the Nathan's Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest on Coney Island in Brooklyn on July 4.

Chestnut set a new event-record by eating 72 hot dogs in 10 minutes.
