Millions watched last night as the recipients of the 62nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards were revealed. Some, like the show "Mad Men" are on their way to challenge a record number of awards, which begs the question, just what are those records? Click through and find out the most honored of those applauded victors throughout the history of the Emmys.



The comedy, which ran from 1993 to 2004, won an unprecedented 37 Emmys during its run, breaking the previous record of 29 held by "The Mary Tyler Moore Show." It also holds the record for most consecutive Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series with five.

With 27 Primetime Emmy Awards, "The Simpsons" easily beats out the animated competition, though, having run from 1989 to today, it has had plenty of time to do so.

The 2008 HBO miniseries "John Adams" starring Paul Giamatti, won Emmys for everything from Giamatti's title performance to costumes and cinematography, eventually bringing in a total of 13 awards.
