Kirk Douglas turns 100: A look a the actor through the years(8 images)
Kirk Douglas, whose real name is Issur Danielovitch, will turn 100 on Dec. 9. The actor, producer, and author made his film debut in the 1946 film The Strange Love of Martha Ivers, which also starred Barbara Stanwyck. He went on to star in other films like Champion, Ace in the Hole, The Bad and the Beautiful, Act of Love, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, The Indian Fighter, Lust for Life, Paths of Glory, Spartacus, Lonely Are the Brave, and Seven Days in May.
In his decades-long career, Douglas -- father of actor Michael Douglas -- has earned three Academy Award nominations, an Oscar for Lifetime Achievement, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
