National Public Radio's Juan Williams was fired for comments he made regaring Muslims. Williams, who appeared on the television show "The O'Reilly Factor" on October 18, 2010, made the following comment to Bill O'Reilly, "Look, Bill, I'm not a bigot. You know the kind of books I've written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. Fox News host Bill O'Reilly has come under fire for calling for a national Pepsi boycott for the brand's sponsor, Ludacris. When he told The View the "Muslims killed us on 9/11," Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar walked off the set.

Olbermann was suspended from his MSNBC show after donating to three Democratic Congressional candidates in 2010. He returned to the air just two days after the suspension began, probably thanks to a 250,000 signature online petition. In January 2011, MSNBC announced it had ended its contract with Olbermann. Some speculate it was related to the failed suspension.

In 2007, Imus used controversial racist and sexist slurs in reference to to Rutgers University's women's basketball team on his radio program Imus in the Morning. After heated controversy in which many members of the media called for Imus to be fired, CBS announced the show's cancellation. Later that year the show returned to a New York talk-radio station.
