The trailer also features characters performing magic tricks such as stopping a bullet with their teeth and getting out of a pair of handcuffs.

"By day they live among us as our neighbors, friends and co-workers, but by night they are the sorcerers, magicians and wizards that protect us from the forces of darkness...unless the darkness gets them first," reads a synopsis for the series.

The first issue of The Magic Order will be available for purchase on June 13 through comic book stores, retail outlets and digitally.

The Magic Order is penned by famed comic book writer Mark Millar and illustrated by Marvel comics artist Olivier Coipel (Thor, The Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man). The comic book is the first project born from Netflix's acquisition of Millar's publishing imprint Millarworld.

The move was made in order to develop new content for the streaming service based on Millarworld properties. The company and Millar is known for publishing hit series' such as Wanted, Kick-Ass Kingsman: The Secret Service, Nemesis and Superior among others.

Millar, while speaking to Entertainment Weekly about The Magic Order, compared the series to The Sopranos and Harry Potter.

"As a kid, I always used to rationalize the fact that there were no monsters (since nobody's ever seen a monster or caught one on camera), with the idea that there are people who take care of this, and that's why you never see it," Millar said about his inspiration for the series. "So the idea is there's a family of wizards who have been around for thousands of years and they take care of bad stuff. They live among us as stage magicians and other eccentric jobs during the day, but at night, they get together and take care of problems."
