PORTLAND, Ore., June 27 (UPI) -- It must be the socks.

That's all Portland Trail Blazers guard Pat Connaughton wore on his feet on the football field recently, before awing fans.

While messing around this weekend, the former high school quarterback turned Notre Dame basketball star showed off his impressive arm.

He posted a display of his throwing strength Sunday night on Twitter. In the video, Connaughton kicks off his shoes, steps up five yards, and fires a football 80-yards into the opposing end zone.

"Weekend shenanigans," Connaughton wrote. He also included the hashtag #NFLDraft2017 and tagged the New England Patriots.

Maybe he can step in for the Patriots during Tom Brady's four-game suspension?

The Blazers responded to Connaughton's post by tweeting: "He's...not...human..."

Connaughton also pitched for the Irish baseball team while at Notre Dame. He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles and owns a 98 mph fastball. He appeared in 34 games for the Blazers last season after being selected No. 41 in the 2015 NBA Draft.
