NBA: Atlanta 98, Denver 96

DENVER, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Shelden Williams drained two free throws with 5.4 seconds left Wednesday night as the Atlanta Hawks beat Denver, 98-96.

Joe Johnson scored 27 points and Salim Stoudamire scored 21 for Atlanta. Tyronn Lue scored 16 points and Josh Smith had 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Hawks, who won for the second time in their last four games.

Carmelo Anthony finished with 24 points and seven rebounds, and J.R. Smith had 12 points for Denver. Marcus Camby and Yakhouba Diawara each scored 11 points and Andre Miller had 10 points and nine assists for the Nuggets, who also have split their last four games.

Denver came from behind to finish the third quarter with a 23-7 run, and took a 75-61 into the fourth quarter -- but Atlanta put together a 13-0 run to take the lead at 88-87 with 6:09 left to play.
