Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Mohamed Salah scored the only goal in Liverpool's 1-0 win against Napoli in the Champions League on Tuesday at Anfield, pushing the Reds into the round of 16. Salah's score came in the 34th minute of the Group C finale.
Midfielder James Milner sliced a through ball through the Napoli defense to start the sequence, leading Salah into the box. Salah took a touch around left back Mario Rui before using his right boot to squeeze in a shot between the legs of Napoli keeper David Ospina and into the far-post netting.
"After 65 minutes it was really wild from both sides -- counter, counter, counter, counter -- and quick transitions without really finishing," Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said, according to LiverpoolFC.com.
"The goal Mo scored ... what a goal! Unbelievable. And the save Ali made, I have no words for that. That was a life-saver tonight. I'm really proud of what the boys did tonight."
Paris Saint-Germain clinched Group C with a win against Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday, while the Reds also advanced out of the group by leapfrogging Napoli.
Liverpool battles Manchester United in Premier League play at 11 a.m. on Sunday at Anfield. The Reds find out their fate for the round of 16 on Monday as the draw takes place in Switzerland.
