Meek Mill says his split from Nicki Minaj was a 'loss'

July 28 (UPI) -- Meek Mill says his split from girlfriend Nicki Minaj was a definite "loss."

The 34-year-old rapper opened up about his breakup with Minaj while promoting his new album, Wins & Losses, on Power 99 Philadelphia radio station this week.

"Breaking up with anyone you love is a loss. Period," he told host Cosmic Kev.

Meek Mill said his relationship with Minaj was a major "win," adding there are no hard feelings between him and the "No Frauds" rapper. He confirmed he and his friends still listen to Minaj's music.

"It was a win," the star said. "I got Nicki when I was... like, I came up. I always wanted Nicki my whole life. I used to talk Nicki Minaj -- remember I had the rap about it? I bagged that. So, that was a win of course."

"They play [her music] every time we're in the club. We listen to the radio, too, man. We gotta vibe to sometimes to everybody's music," he added. "I ain't mad at her ... If your song is fire, there's no way we're skipping past it. Period."

Meek Mill and Minaj called it quits in the winter after nearly two years of dating. Minaj confirmed the news in a tweet Jan. 5.

"To confirm, yes I am single. Focusing on my work & looking forward to sharing it with you guys really soon. Have a blessed New Year. Love u," she wrote.

Minaj has since been linked to Nas, telling The Ellen DeGeneres Show in May that she and the rapper have "sleepovers." Meek Mill released Wins & Losses, his third studio album, last week.
