Luke Perry's show brought chandelier down

LONDON, May 17 (UPI) -- A chandelier fell from the stage, injuring 15 people, during a performance of "When Harry Met Sally," starring Luke Perry, at a London theater.

The ornate chandelier at West End's Theatre Royal, Haymarket, dropped four feet before a safety rope stopped its fall, raining plaster chunks on the audience during Saturday's show, Hellomagazine.com reported.

The "Beverly Hills 90210" star immediately jumped from the stage to help audience members, the Web site said.

Officials said 15 people were injured.

"I saw Luke standing about three or four rows from the front," said one witness. "He was obviously quite concerned to get members of the audience out, as were the rest of the cast. He was very gallant. It was a great performance and it's a shame it had to end this way."

The 18th century theater, which had a $2 million renovation 10 years ago, is closed for an investigation of the accident, but is expected to reopen Wednesday.
