Losman breaks leg at practice

PITTSFORD, N.Y., Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Rookie quarterback J.P Losman of Buffalo suffered a broken left leg in practice.

He was carted off the field Tuesday after a hit by cornerback Troy Vincent. The team said on its Web site Losman got up immediately and started limping before falling back to the ground, where team trainers attended to him.

He will be lost eight to 12 weeks.

"I was running and keeping him from going out of bounds and he was cutting back and our shoulder pads just barely grazed on his cutback," said Vincent. "At the same time he was planted I think our shoulder pads met. I had finished the play and I hadn't realized that he had fallen. He had said that he caught the edge of my shoulder pads on my cutback and he had got twisted up on the ground. I just wanted to make sure he was OK."

Losman, who played at Tulane, was the second of the Bills' two first-round draft picks in June.
