LOS ANGELES, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- Quentin Richardson scored 21 points Monday night as the Los Clippers beat San Antonio, 91-79.
The Clippers' win snapped an eight-game home losing streak against the Spurs. They had not beaten the Spurs in Los Angeles since Dec. 4, 1997. The only Clipper players active in the NBA at that time were guard Eric Piatkowski and center Sean Rooks.
In late 1997, Quentin Richardson was a senior at Whitney Young High School, and Michael Olowokandi was a junior at Pacific University.
Richardson scored 10 straight Clippers points in the fourth quarter to help seal the win, and Olowokandi added 17 and 18 rebounds. He made 6-of-8 shots and is starting to find his rhythm after beginning the season on the injured list.
Olowokandi held his own against superstar Tim Duncan, who collected 32 points and 11 rebounds but did not get to the line. Olowokandi made 8-of-12 shots and blocked four shots before fouling out.
The Spurs attempted just nine free throws, and also struggled at the arc, going 0-of-9 as they failed to make a three-pointer for the first time this season.
They shot just 41 percent (36-of-88) overall while allowing the Clippers to shoot 52 percent (34-of-65).
