BEIJING, June 19 (UPI) -- A Chinese foreign ministry spokesman denied a report the youngest son of North Korean leader Kim Jong Il had visited Beijing.
Spokesman Qin Gang, speaking to reporters Thursday, would only say the situation "presented in some media reports does not exist," the official Xinhua news agency reported.
Xinhua said Japan's Asahi newspaper Tuesday quoted unidentified sources as saying Kim Jong Un met Chinese President Hu Jintao and other Chinese leaders in Beijing around June 10.
Making no other reference to that report, Qin went on to cite China policy of developing good neighborly and friendly relations with North Korea while firmly standing for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
"China will, as always, unswervingly push for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, preserve peace and stability on the peninsula and in Northeast Asia, and maintain contact and coordination with all concerned sides," Qin said.
