Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Former couple Kailyn Lowry and Javi Marroquin say a reconciliation "just wouldn't happen."

The 25-year-old Teen Mom 2 star and Marroquin discussed the possibility of getting back together in an interview with Us Weekly published Thursday.

"I just think there's a lot of history between us that neither one of us will ever let go," Marroquin said. "Even if we were to try it again the future it wouldn't work just because I know the type of person I am, and the type of person she is and we argue. It just wouldn't happen."

Lowry, who shares 4-year-old son Lincoln with Marroquin, agreed that she and her ex-husband have a history of conflict.

"Javi argues out of passion," the star said. "Javi is a habitual arguer and a never-letter-goer. Javi for sure needs to choose his battles."

"I don't think we could get back together," she added.

Lowry and Marroquin split in 2016 after nearly three years of marriage, but have appeared on friendly terms as of late. The pair's interview followed Marroquin's split from Lowry's co-star Briana DeJesus this month.

"I have no bad things to say about him. He wanted a wife and a home right now and I didn't see a reason to rush," DeJesus said in a statement to Blasting News. "I wish him the best going forward."

Marroquin was among those to support Lowry's decision to back out of scheduled plastic surgeries this week. Lowry said in a series of tweets that she decided to not go through with "lipo & a boob job" hours before going under the knife.
