Judge: Student insane when he tried attack

LINCOLN, Neb., Nov. 23 (UPI) -- A judge has ruled that a Nebraska teenager was insane when he drove to his high school with a load of explosives and firearms.

Lancaster County District Judge Karen Flowers deliberated for three months following the end of a non-jury trial before making her decision, the Lincoln Journal Star reported.

Joshua Magee was charged with attempted murder and use of firearms and explosives in a felony. During the trial, defense lawyers argued that Magee thought God had ordered him to attack Malcolm High School last year, while prosecutors said that he was sane and wanted revenge on fellow students.

Flowers' ruling means that Magee will be sent to the Lincoln Regional Center for a 90-day evaluation to decide on treatment.
