May 30 (UPI) -- Former Robin Jason Todd, now known as the Red Hood, is the newest playable character in developer NetherRealm Studios' DC Comics fighting game sequel, Injustice 2.

Red Hood displays his gun toting abilities in a new gameplay trailer released Monday that features the antihero taking on the likes of new Robin Damian Wayne, Batman and The Joker.

"Dick trusted me but you never will," Damian says to Red Hood, referencing fellow Batman ally Nightwing. "Someone's desperate for approval," Red Hood responds as he twirls his twin handguns.

Red Hood is then seen taking the fight to Damian using his guns, ninja stars and explosives before finishing the battle in a hail of gunfire.

"Jason Todd once served as Batman's second protege Robin before being brutally murdered by The Joker," reads Red Hood's synopsis. "Years later, the powerful healing waters of the Lazarus Pit brought Jason Todd back to life. However the power of the pit comes at a cost, and a change takes hold in Jason. He now uses the mantle of the Red Hood to wage a lethal war on crime."

Red Hood is set to arrive to Injustice 2 in June as part of the game's upcoming Fighter Pack 1 expansion that will also include Teen Titans member Starfire and Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat.
