Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Hellboy is stepping out of the pages of Dark Horse Comics and into the world of DC Comics as he joins the roster of superhero fighting game, Injustice 2.

The character was announced to be joining Injustice 2 alongside Mortal Kombat's Raiden and Aquaman villain Black Manta Wednesday as part of a new cinematic trailer.

The clip features previously released expansion characters for the game including antihero Red Hood, Starfire of Teen Titans fame and Mortal Kombat's Sub-Zero, looking defeated as the new additions to the series come into focus.

"Thanks for the light pal," Hellboy says as he uses a rocket fired by Black Manta to lit up a cigarette. "This just got a whole lot more interesting," he continues.

The three characters will be included as part of upcoming Injustice 2 expansion, Fighter Pack 2.

Recently, Hellboy's creator Mike Mignola announced that a Hellboy reboot film is in development starring Stranger Things alum David Harbour in the title role. Ian McShane has also been cast as Hellboy's adoptive father, Professor Broom. Milla Jovovich is in final negotiations to appear as the villainous Blood Queen.
