Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Google is celebrating famed pediatrician Fe del Mundo on what would have been her 107th birthday with a new Doodle.

Del Mundo, born in Manila, Philippines, in 1911, became the first woman admitted to Harvard Medical School. After completing her studies in the U.S., she returned home and set up a hospice where she treated more than 400 children.

Del Mundo later became the director of a government hospital. She would go on to sell her house and belongings to start the first pediatric hospital in the Philippines where she lived on the second floor and continued to work at until she was 99-years-old.

Del Mundo is also known for authoring the Textbook of Pediatrics, establishing the Institute of Maternal and Child Health and for being the first woman named the National Scientist of the Philippines.

"I'm glad that I have been very much involved in the care of children, and that I have been relevant to them," she has said.

Google's homepage features colorful artwork of Del Mundo treating a child inside a grassy area filled with birds.
