According to the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, taking selfies could be leading to more cosmetic surgery.
One-third of AAFPRS members have reported more people seeking plastic surgery after seeing pictures of themselves on social media websites. Statistics from last year show there were 10 percent more nose jobs, 7 percent more hair transplants, and 6 percent more eyelid surgeries. More women under the age of 30 are also seeking cosmetic enhancements.

Doctors are also reporting patients coming in with celebrity selfies on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and other social networks and asking for their features to be altered to match the photos.
