The product was sold in prepackaged 12-ounce containers, and this recall involves all packages sold from December through this past Tuesday.

"Consumption of products containing Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infection in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms, such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women, said Maria Brous, Publix media and community relations director.

"We have issued a voluntary recall because of our commitment to food safety," she said.

No illnesses have been reported to date regarding this product, but consumers may return packages to their local store for a full refund.
