PARIS, April 23 (UPI) -- Fifteen percent of young adults in France ages 18-24 drink alcohol, a so-called responsible drinking association says.
The association, Entreprise et Prevention, found fewer than 1-in-2 patrons in bars, cafes or restaurants in France drank alcohol -- and those who did were most likely to be age 55 or older, the Local reported.
The study found 45 percent of those who go out to eat and drink consume alcohol, but older generations are more likely to drink. The current survey found 30 percent of those age 55 and older consumed alcohol in a bar or restaurant.
Although those in France might be having fewer drinks overall, the age-old stereotype suggests French consumption of alcohol is linked to meal times -- 40 percent said they drank with lunch, 40 percent said they drank with dinner and 18 percent drank outside of meal times.
