Pregnant women can get tips by cellphone

WASHINGTON, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- A program called Text4baby sends free text-message health tips to cellphones of women who are pregnant, U.S. health officials said.

Text4Baby is supported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and other partners. The messages have health tips for women who are pregnant and for those who are caring for a baby under age 1.

Dr. Juliette Kendrick of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said the text messages are timed to match the progress of a pregnancy or a baby's growth during the first year.

Kendrick said it is easy for moms to get involved.

"Users sign up on their cellphones by texting 'baby' -- B-A-B-Y -- to the shortcode 511411."
