Some brides getting plastic surgery

SACRAMENTO, March 13 (UPI) -- Many brides want to look their best on their wedding day and for some that includes plastic surgery, a California cosmetic surgeon says.

Dr. Jagdev Heir, medical director of Sacramento Surgical Arts, an accredited cosmetic, oral and maxillofacial surgery center in Sacramento and Yuba City, says an increasing number of brides are seeking cosmetic solutions to make sure they look picture perfect.

"Brides are choosing procedures such as breast augmentation, liposuction, Botox, Collagen, and other injectables and fillers," Heir says in a statement.

Heir estimates that brides and their bridal parties who come to his practice spend anywhere from $300 to $6,000 on procedures in preparation for the special day.

Heir offers do's and don'ts for wedding-related cosmetic procedures:

-- Do plan ahead. Some procedures need to be performed four to six months before the wedding date.

-- Do find a surgeon you can trust.

-- Do find out how the surgeon cares for clients after the procedure.

-- Don't make a hasty decision -- it's not only about your wedding so choose what's right for your appearance.

-- Don't use surgery in lieu of a healthy lifestyle.

-- Don't expect surgery to turn the clock back 30 years, though five or 10 years is realistic.
