Woman suing over breast augmentation

NEW YORK, March 3 (UPI) -- A New York mother-of-two alleges in a lawsuit she was essentially left with four breasts because of a botched breast augmentation procedure.

The New York Daily News said Wednesday Maria Alaimo, 47, is seeking $5 million in damages from Dr. Keith Berman for the 2003 augmentation operation that Alaimo claims left her with deformities.

Alaimo alleges in her Staten Island Supreme Court suit the procedure to receive a pair of full 36 C cups left her scars and swelling that have caused "pain ... disability, loss of self-esteem, humiliation and embarrassment."

Alaimo, who claims her marriage ended in part due to the procedure, alleges the so-called double-bubble deformities make her looks as though she has four breasts.

Alaimo reportedly paid Berman $7,000 for the procedure after learning of the Staten Island doctor through an advertisement on the Internet.

The Daily News said Berman insists he warned Alaimo of the procedure's potential risks beforehand.
