Women spend up to $23,000 to remove hair

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., June 24 (UPI) -- A hair removal survey indicates U.S. women spend more than $10,000 on hair removal products and services over the course of their lives.

The survey, by American Laser Centers, said women remove unwanted body hair for an average period of 53.6 years, using methods such as shaving, waxing and depilatory creams.

Survey respondents report they think they will spend more than 58.4 days removing hair from their bodies during their lifetime. Women report they spent $15.87 per month on shaving and over their lifetime this amounts to $10,207.

Delapidory cream- or lotion-users report paying slightly more for hair removal -- $10,555 through their lifetime -- yet only remove hair one to two times per month.

Respondents who report waxing one to two times per month spend an average of $23,000 on hair removal in a lifetime.

The American Laser Centers hair removal survey used Zoomerang to recruit a random sample of respondents of 540 females between the ages of 18 to 65 were asked about 30 questions in May about their preferred hair removal approach.
