HANOI, Vietnam, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Russia and Vietnam have signed a memorandum of understanding on healthcare cooperation, the Viet Nam News reported.
The memorandum, signed at the end of a weeklong visit to Vietnam by a delegation from the Russian Ministry of Public Health, states that the two nations will draft an agreement on cooperation in training health workers. It also calls for future cooperation in the areas of infectious-disease prevention and pharmaceutical production, the newspaper reports.
In particular, the Russian delegates expressed admiration for Vietnam's response to the avian flu.
The agreement will likely be finalized early next year when the Russian minister of health and social development visits the Asian country early in 2007.
