Fireball streaks across night sky in Texas

Dec. 12 (UPI) -- A Texas driver's dashboard camera captured the moment a fireball streaked across the night sky over the state.

The footage shows the fireball lighting up the night sky over Austin on Monday night.

The driver, Mike Ray, said he was traveling west on 290 when the footage was recorded at 8:01 p.m. local time.

The American Meteor Society said there were 62 reports of fireball sightings over Texas and Oklahoma at the time the video was recorded.
