Filmmaker Leonardo Favio dead at 74

BUENOS AIRES, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Argentine film director and singer-songwriter Leonardo Favio has died in Buenos Aires after suffering poor health for years, his family said. He was 74.

The BBC confirmed his death Monday, but did not report a specific cause of it.

Favio's film credits include "Nazarene Cross and the Wolf," "Peron, sinfonia del sentimiento" and "Aniceto." He also had a number of hit songs in Latin America in the 1960s and '70s, including "She Already Forgot Me," "You Were Mine One Summer" and "Or Perhaps I'll Just Give Her a Rose."

Favio was appointed Argentina's ambassador of culture two years ago, the BBC said.
