June 8 (UPI) -- Publisher Square Enix has announced that a fighting game based on their long-running Final Fantasy series, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, is coming to the Playstation 4 in early 2018.
The title which was previously released in Japanese arcades, brings together heroes and villains from the storied franchise to take part in three-on-three battles.
A gameplay trailer released for Dissidia Wednesday, features characters such as Cloud, Sephiroth, Tidus and Lightning battling it out across various locations from the Final Fantasy series and using summon monsters such as Ifrit, Shiva, Odin and Ramuh.
"Combining seamless gameplay, Final Fantasy characters and breathtaking worlds from the past 30 years of the franchise, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT welcomes all gamers to the online battle arena with its renowned bravery combat system," reads the synopsis.
"Dissidia Final Fantasy NT allows you to choose from over 20 legendary Final Fantasy characters and battle in a 3-versus-3 arena. Each match will allow the player to call forth familiar summons like Ifrit, Shiva and Odin to dominate the opposing side or to turn the tide of the battle. This is not your average fighter – this is your fantasy, your fight," it continues.
Developed by Team Ninja, the studio behind the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive series, the game is also set to feature Final Fantasy XV protagonist Noctis and a new story mode written by Kazushige Nojima who previously worked on XV, Kingdom Hearts and the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake, IGN reported.
