LONDON, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- The detective drama Endeavour, the prequel to Inspector Morse, is to return to ITV for a fourth season.

Set in 1967, the next installments are to go into production late this spring in Oxford.

Shaun Evans is returning as the young Morse and scripts will be penned by Russell Lewis, who created Endeavour and wrote for Inspector Morse.

Roger Allam will again play Endeavour's senior officer, Detective Inspector Fred Thursday.

"Endeavour and Thursday have forged an unmissable partnership since they came together on screen in January 2012 in a one-off single film to mark the 25th anniversary of Inspector Morse," a press release said.

"#TeamEndeavour looks forward to welcoming you back to Cowley Police Station early next year -- when we reopen the 1960s casebook of Detective Constable Endeavour Morse and unravel a set of brand-new murder mysteries," Lewis said in a statement.
