Feb. 8 (UPI) -- The cast and creator of the canceled supernatural western series, Wynonna Earp, have confirmed they are reuniting for a movie to stream on Tubi.

"The news is true.... WYNONNA EARP IS BACK!!" the platform posted on X Thursday, alongside a video of stars Melanie Scrofano, Tim Rozon, Dominique Provost-Chalkley and Katherine Barrell -- as well show creator Emily Andras -- discussing the project with a Vanity Fair reporter.

Paolo Barzman is to direct the 90-minute scripted special, Wynonna Earp: Vengeance, which is set to premiere in late 2024, according to the magazine.

"Doc and Wynonna have been on an adventure, and Waverly and Nicole have been at home in [the Earp hometown of] Purgatory, doing their thing," Andras said.

"I think it's going to be really interesting to see, hopefully, what gets everybody home -- maybe facing a challenge they've never faced before, something pretty intense. It's all your favorite -- hopefully -- character moments, but also a little bit about growing up and sort of, like, being who you are now and earning all your choices."

The comic-book adaptation featuring Scrofano as the titular, demon-hunting, great-great-granddaughter of legendary lawman Wyatt Earp initially ran on Syfy in the United States for four seasons from 2016 to 2021.

Reruns are streaming on Netflix.

Scrofano told reporters in a 2021 round-table interview that she hoped the show would be remembered as a TV show that inspired people to be authentically themselves and accepting of others.

"However you present yourself to the world is OK. You don't need to tick other people's boxes. You just need to be whoever you are, and that's good enough," the actress said.
