'Stranger Things' stars fight as team in Season 4 trailer

May 23 (UPI) -- Netflix is gearing up for the release of Stranger Things Season 4.

The streaming service shared a final trailer for Season 4, Volume 1 on Monday.

The preview shows the stars of Stranger Things fight as a team as they take on impossible odds and face a new threat in their hometown of Hawkins, Ind.

Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp and Sadie Sink star.

Season 4 takes place six months after the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins.

"Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time -- and navigating the complexities of high school hasn't made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down," an official description reads.

Netflix released the first eight minutes of Season 4 last week.

Volume 1, which premieres Friday, will consist of seven episodes, while Volume 2, which arrives July 1, will feature nine episodes.

Stranger Things is created by the Duffer brothers, who serve as showrunners and executive producers with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen.
