Sarah Phelps adapting Jackie Collins' 'Lovers & Gamblers' for TV

Oct. 5 (UPI) -- And Then There Were None and Ordeal by Innocence screenwriter Sarah Phelps is working on a television adaptation of Jackie Collins' iconic 1977 novel, Lovers & Gamblers.

"LOVERS & GAMBLERS to be made into a MAJOR new TV series Adapted by @PhelpsieSarah, we are thrilled that one of Jackie Collins' most epic and exciting sagas will be brought to life on screen with @federationent," Collins' Twitter feed said Tuesday.

Phelps also celebrated the news on social media.

"I read this novel when I was babysitting for a neighbor aged about 12 & I am bouncing off the walls that this is going to happen. Bring it ON. #loverandgamblers," Phelps posted.

Deadline said Phelps also will executive produce with Federation U.K.'s Polly Williams and Arielle Gottlieb. eOne is co-producing.

No network home has been announced for the project yet.

Collins died in 2015 at the age of 77. She penned 32 novels, which sold more than 500 million copies.
