Amazon working on 'I Love Lucy' remake

Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Amazon Prime Video has announced plans to release a Spanish-language re-imagining of the classic U.S. sitcom, I Love Lucy.

The streaming service said Thursday All For Lucy will star Natalia Téllez as the titular heroine and Daniel Tovar as her husband Ricky.

"We are excited to continue showing the explosive creativity of our talent in Mexico and bringing it to our Amazon Prime Video customers," Francisco Morales, head of content for Mexico at Amazon Prime Video, said in a statement.

"We can't wait for this title to join our growing list of exclusive and original series and films from around the world and continue to show the high quality of productions in Latin America."

Lucille Ball and her husband, Desi Arnaz, starred in the original show, which ran six seasons from 1951 to 1957. It remains popular in reruns.

Ball and Arnaz married in 1940 and divorced in 1960. Ball died in 1989 at the age of 77. Arnaz died in 1986 at the age of 69.
