Lifetime becomes new, exclusive cable home for 'Castle'

Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Lifetime has become the exclusive cable television home of crime series Castle starring Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic.

The network will begin airing Castle starting with Season 1 on Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. EDT. The show will continue to air through November.

Castle will then take a break on Lifetime for its multi-week It's a Wonderful Life holiday movie event before episodes resume in January 2022.

Fillion starred on the series as famous mystery novelist Richard Castle, who is enlisted by the NYPD to solve a series of murders that are based on his books.

Richard Castle teams up with Katic's detective Kate Beckett and remains with the NYPD as it gives him new ideas for his books. The pair then begin solving crimes together including the murder that started it all.

Castle aired on ABC for eight seasons from 2009 to 2016. Co-stars include Susan Sullivan, Jon Huertas, Seamus Dever, Molly C. Quinn, Tamala Jones, Penny Johnson Jerald and Ruben Santiago-Hudson.
