Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Margaret Qualley is trying to get her life back on track and ensure a better future for her young daughter in the new trailer for upcoming Netflix series, Maid.

Qualley escapes an abusive relationship and takes up residence with her daughter at a domestic violence shelter in the clip released on Tuesday.

The young mother then takes a job as a maid and faces other obstacles after her ex returns and launches a custody battle.

Qualley is joined by her real-life mother Andie MacDowell who portrays her mother in the series. MacDowell's character is bipolar and is missing from her daughter's life.

Maid, based on the memoir by Stephanie Land, is coming to Netflix on Oct. 1.

Co-stars include Nick Robinson, Anika Noni Rose, Tracy Vilar, Billy Burke, Raymond Ablack, BJ Harrison, Xavier de Guzman, Aimee Carrero and Toby Levins.
