Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Paramount+ announced the Season 4 premiere date for Star Trek: Discovery on Wednesday. The show will return on the streaming service Nov. 18.
The streaming service made the announcement on a live-streaming panel Wednesday commemorating Star Trek Day. Plot details are still vague.
A Paramount+ press release divulged only that Captain Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and the Discovery face "a threat unlike any they've ever encountered" and that Federation and non-Federation worlds "must confront the unknown and work together." Star Trek: Discovery also stars Anthony Rapp, Wilson Cruz, Doug Jones, Mary Wiseman, David Ajala and Blu del Barrio.
As part of Star Trek Day, Paramount+ also presented a panel for its animated series Star Trek: Prodigy. Produced by Nickelodeon and CBS Studios' Eye Animation, Prodigy is intended for younger audiences and premieres Oct. 28.
Kate Mulgrew returns as the voice of her Star Trek: Voyager character, Captain Janeway. In hologram form, Janeway guides a group of kids who steal a Starfleet vessel for a joy ride and end up boldly going where no kid has gone before.
Ella Purnell, Jimmi Simpson, John Noble, Dee Bradley Baker, Jason Mantzoukas, Brett Gray, Angus Imrie and Rylee Alazraqui also provide voices.
Additional Star Trek Day panels are streaming at StarTrek.com/Day, on Paramount+ and Paramount+'s Twitch Channel. They will remain available on demand on Paramount+ and Paramount+'s YouTube Channel.
