Aug. 30 (UPI) -- CBS is giving a glimpse of the new series CSI: Vegas. The network shared a trailer for the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation sequel series Sunday.
William Petersen, Jorja Fox and Wallace Langham return as Gil Grissom, Sara Sidle and David Hodges, respectively. Paula Newsome plays Maxine Roby, the head of the Las Vegas crime lab.
CSI: Vegas is created by Jason Tracey and co-stars Matt Lauria, Mel Rodriguez and Mandeep Dhillon.
The trailer shows the team "follow the evidence" as they investigate new cases and face an existential threat that could bring down the crime lab.
The original CSI also took place in Las Vegas and aired for 15 seasons on CBS from 2000 to 2015.
"Twenty-one years ago, we launched CSI and watched in awe as this new cinematic series launched an entire genre and became a groundbreaking juggernaut that still has global resonance today," CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl previously said. "We are thrilled to welcome the next generation of forensic criminalists to the CSI brand and unite them with the legendary characters from the past who we still love, including the extraordinary Billy Petersen and Jorja Fox."
"Crimefighting technology has advanced dramatically over the last several years and combined with classic CSI storytelling, we can't wait to watch this new CSI team do what they do best: follow the evidence," he added.
Production on the series was halted last week after Petersen was hospitalized due to exhaustion while working on the show's set.
