Michael Keaton on 'Worth': 'This is something that I have to do'

Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Michael Keaton discussed his upcoming Netflix film Worth and what drew him to the project while appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Worth follows Keaton as attorney and mediator Kenneth Feinberg who lead the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund. Feinberg was assigned with allocating financial resources to the victims of the tragedy. The film hits Netflix on Sept. 3.

Keaton recalled on Wednesday how he wasn't sure how the script could be turned into a film but later joined the project after reading the script a second time.

"I said, 'Man this is something that I have to do.' It means a lot to me and everyone, actually, all of us, not just New Yorkers but all of us.," Keaton told Meyers.

The actor mentioned how Feinberg essentially needed to determine what a life is worth and the complex situation he found himself in dealing with the Victim Compensation Fund.

"So his arc and the movie arc is you think you'll just go in and handle this on a legal level and then you realize, you know, unless you don't have a pulse, you're not a human being, you have to be affected by it emotionally," Keaton said.

Keaton will also be reprising his role as Batman/Bruce Wayne in The Flash, which races into theaters on Nov. 4, 2022. The 69-year-old recently said that playing Batman again was like riding a bike.
