June 24 (UPI) -- John Cena confirmed that he will be returning to WWE while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Fallon asked Cena about rumors that he will be in a WWE ring again on Wednesday. Cena's last match took place at WrestleMania 36 in April 2020 when he lost to The Fiend Bray Wyatt.

"Those rumors are true. I'll definitely be back to the WWE, I just don't know when," the 16-time WWE Champion said.

"I haven't had my last match and I can't wait to have my next one," he continued.

Cena stars in the next installment of the Fast and the Furious franchise titled F9 and DC Comics epic The Suicide Squad. He is also filming an HBO Max series centered around his Suicide Squad character, Peacemaker.

"Once you do one of these things, the insurance doesn't let you go wrestle on the weekends so we'll what happens," he said about juggling his film career and wrestling.

F9 races to theaters on Friday, while The Suicide Squad will be released in theaters and on HBO Max on Aug. 6.

Cena also played 30 Seconds To with Fallon, where the duo was tasked with completing challenges in 30 seconds.

The 44-year-old was able to move more Skittles using a spoon he held in his mouth than Fallon, but lost a cup stacking challenge to the late night host. Fallon then won the game after shaking more ping-pong balls out of a tissue box that was strapped to their lower backs.
